“Just about everyone knows by now that we have to start living within our means, and the planet’s. This expo will be a great place to learn ways to do that.”- Jeff Golden of

April 28, 2009 – With the momentous 40th anniversary of Earth Day just behind us, “going green” is clearly going mainstream. More people than ever want to be involved, to help themselves, their community and our country.
The inaugural Oregon Green Expo, the largest and most ambitious green and sustainable living community event and festival held in Southern Oregon will be the place to be during the July 4th summer weekend.
There will be opportunities for consumers and businesses who want to get involved in green and sustainable practices, learn how to get started or expand their knowledge and regional network of connections. See first hand, new technologies, products and services from new companies as well as veteran “greenies”. Learn from our region’s best and brightest green and sustainable living practitioners – receive immeasurable value for the entry fee.
The Oregon Green Expo will present an array of green and sustainable living products and services. Highly knowledgeable individual speakers and guest speaker panels will provide insight and information into the current and future state of creating green and sustainable communities. Attendees and participants will learn about a range of topics from creating green jobs and businesses, to investing locally and developing local talent to create a sustainable regional economy. Hands-on workshops will show how to create community gardens, effective home weatherization, green remodeling, along with “what and how” to recycle and much more.
Most importantly, everyone will learn how to connect with their community to collaborate and empower each other through new social networking technologies and “re-localizing” efforts. Re-localization, or building resilience into a community, is occurring all across our country and our world. Resilience is the ability of an ecosystem to withstand shock from the outside. A strong re-localized Rogue Valley economy will enable Southern Oregon to better withstand national and global economic turmoil. The Oregon Green Expo will facilitate local efforts to educate our community on how to create a more sustainable, independent and self-sufficient future.
Cultural and entertainment events will create a festive atmosphere alongside the learning environment of the weekend. There will be music, a Kid’s Zone for children, Green Teen activities, a “Greenest Home” contest, as well as local organic food events and more!
Green and sustainable businesses and organizations can apply now to be sponsors or exhibitors at the Oregon Green Expo. For more information go to:
