Peppers are so great, I like them but if gophers don't take them down into theri burrows then they take forever to mature.....maybe a smaller pepper for me.

If you've already been to the local farmer's markets, you might try the Grants Pass market. I've heard it's good, but I've never been there. I'd also ask any of the specialty growers at the market where you might find different varieties.
