Rogue Current

So nobody here watched a Halloween horror movie last weekend, but I still believe that a group of self-proclaimed movie fans must get a little screen time on a weekend. Maybe it's in a theater; maybe it's a DVD; maybe it's streaming video on your laptop.

I just want to know what others are watching. I'll keep asking and eventually someone will respond. Who knows? An online conversation could actually break out.

I watched "Whatever Works," the Larry David-Woody Allen from this summer. It's old-school Allen that is funny and surprisingly sweet. I simply liked it, but if you want to make it a study of various styles of Jewish comedy through the decades, you can see it that way, too. (New York Magazine did.)

In the better late than never department, we finally watched "Milk," the 2008 Gus Van Sant movie about gay activist and San Francisco supervisor Harvey Milk. Sean Penn was incredible in the lead role, and as a fan of San Francisco, I enjoyed seeing lots of real city locations.
