Thank you for the Hubbard information. Will correct the source.

I could easily be wrong, but I've never heard of any lodging of any kind above Hubbard's. There was a brothel upstairs in the building immediately west of Hubbard's, though. The rooming house was variously called the Medford Rooms, the Lynn Rooms and the Rex Hotel. After the 1920s it was jocularly referred to as the Medford Riding Academy.

That's sort of what I think too, Ben, though it is a part of a larger image that includes a reference to "Ashland Mineral Springs." I don't think it's Ashland, OR. It isn't Ashland, Virginia and whatever Ashland (with a mineral spring) it is, remains unknown.
Ben Truwe Comment by Ben Truwe on June 1, 2010 at 12:54pm
Nah--the topography is all wrong. The building is on the top of a steep hill, with no mountains in the background. I can't think of a place like that around here that had any huge buildings, or access therefor.

A mystery? Does ANYBODY recognize this building as being in Ashland?

A small announcement: I've added about 50 pages (and a couple hundred photos) to my Rogue Valley history site:
