Building Community

A place where local residents can discuss how to make the Rogue Valley a better place to live.

The Rogue Valley certainly has a lot going for it, but also a lot of issues -- which are growing more pressing as the economy continues to stumble along. The community provided a comprehensive response to the meth threat -- it's far from solved, but the progression of the blight has been blunted. What's the next threat, or threats, we should take on?

Guy: If you have some specific needs, times, dates, etc. we could run an item in the paper and on the Web letting more people know how they can help out. Let me know -- we'd be happy to spread the word.

Have fun and help the community at the same time. The Garden Railway club at the Medford Train Park is building a new layout for "Thomas the Train" and we need help. For those not familiar the train park is open the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month from April-October, free admission. E-mail me if interested.

The kick off to Jackson County CAN (Child Abuse Network) will be June 2 from 2 to 4 pm at United Way. we're moving ahead and we CAN make a difference. I have to say the Mail Tribune has stayed committed to this issue. i've seen many stories and so appreciate that our knowledge and commitment and engagement is rising!

Sorry for my delayed return to the discussion -- but I, too, wanted to say that I thought the April 30 event was powerful. Now it's time to take the next step and find a way to put this message in front of the public and keep it there. Ideas?

Great Job on the event! It was well put together and really had a great turnout. I was impressed and moved by the event. I did not realize how many cases we had here in Jackson County.

Thanks Sanne and Mail Tribune for committing to hard work! these aren't easy stories to tell and you're telling them. the next step is to convene Jackson County CAN (Child Abuse Network) and frame strategies to reduce child abuse in this community! It's open and you're invited. i'll be figuring out the date this week. Thank you very much!

I was there - (wore out a pen writing down the harrowing true-life stories of child abuse - read by various community leaders.) GREAT JOB getting such a large community turnout, Dee Anne. I hope the articles in this week's Tribune help shine a bit more light on this shadowy topic. Still much to be done tho....
What's the next step?

I'll be at the event Thursday, Dee Anne. And we'll do an advance before hand.
